Good afternoon Pre-K families,
Please note that for the first time this year in an attempt to optimize the use of shared spaces in a co-located building, and also to fit in additional cluster periods for our expanding Pre-K, we moved to an 8-period schedule. As we ran the schedule however, we noticed that several of the changes were detrimental to our students (as well as our families and staff's) Pre-K experience. These included an earlier lunchtime and passing times which had our students’ transitions mirroring that of the middle school students.
With this in mind, we have reverted back to our previous seven period days. This will NOT affect the start and end time of our day. The school day will still begin at 8:40 a.m. and our dismissal doors open from 2:50-3:00 p.m. What will change are the following:
Additionally, we have made the decision to push next week’s scheduled Spirit Week back in order to allow everyone to acclimate to the new schedule. This will also allow us to re-examine some of the language within the DOE-recommended events that are more attuned to our school's philosophy and commitment to diversity.
As always, we appreciate your feedback. Have a great weekend and we will see you on Monday for our first full week of school (finally!)
